turtler7Many players are afraid of taking camels but I recommend accepting the risk and using the options they give to make 5-stacks of low end goods. It is particularly effective to grab them when your opponent has 7 cards as they must trade something back to the center to get even 1 additional good card.1page-title000
turtler7He already took the first sell bonus for the gold (+1 on each of them so he will be 2 points up on me for same good sales). Since he had that from starting hand there is no reason I would have known to sell sooner. Regardless I don't want to clog my hand waiting for a 3rd gold and will part with them now.1page-title000
turtler7Convenient for me!1page-title000
turtler7I used camels instead of straight grabbing it to keep a new card from flipping over and to force him to grab camels with his 6 card hand and likely no interest in leather.1page-title000
turtler7Convenient for him this time. What goes around comes around I guess.1page-title000
turtler7I have a full hand of 7 but with 2 random goods and a camel I can take anything that might up in center. I am going to sell the cloth now for those first sales value even though a 3-card bonus token is very low.1page-title000
turtler7He was not willing to take the camels but now that he has less cards in his hand I have an incentive to take them leaving him far less options in the next few turns of the game.1page-title000
turtler7Since he has so many leather I want to sell mine first and get 4 points for a single good. This will also make the last leather he sells be worth only 1 point. I essentially take 3 from him and add 4 to my score for a 7 point difference. This is a critical part of playing Jaipur successfully.
Some people would argue for taking the camels so when he sells that leather stack even at its enhanced value his hand will have very little trading power. But he wouldn't hesitate to put leather back in favor of high ends. I often treat my own leather like camels that just stay in my hand. I will trade them willingly or if no need comes up sell them for a stack bonus.1page-title000
turtler7He took the camels before selling because if he sells that stack of leather he wouldn't be able to trade for high ends when I take the camels. They are also valuable at the end of the game and he doesn't want to lose control of every one of them.
Here I want all 3 of those spices to make a 5 stack and the gold is only worth 2.5 value since you need 2 to claim the final 5 point token. I can safely leave it in the middle.1page-title000
turtler7I didn't expect him to do that. I thought he was going to sell leather and then I could sell then he could take camels. Instead he cleverly took them while I have a stack of 5 cards of the same type. I have no ability to trade with the middle without ruining my stack.1page-title000
turtler7Oh diamonds. Why are you conspiring against me. This will be a close round.1page-title000
turtler7I might as well start on a stack of leather to empty that pile and get a big sales bonus. Or if high ends get flipped I will trade them out.1page-title000
turtler7I do not want to sell only 4 and leave 1 left in the stack towards ending the game. I also don't want to have the fewest camels when this round wraps up. So I will risk the camel grab and hope no diamonds or cloth flip up since he wants those types.1page-title000
turtler7And here we see a curious mistake. He said in chat it was a misclick. He wanted the leather (so I cant complete my stack) and the diamond. Unfortunately he grabbed a spice instead.1page-title000
turtler7Since he got the first 2 diamond sale this round he gained a bonus 4 points over the typical 5 value (first 2 are each worth 7). That along with a 1-3 point bonus for 3 at once will really help him even though I get to now sell my diamonds too.1page-title000
turtler7I have 6/11 total camels so I have no need to touch them this game. But that leather for a 5 stack and deplete a stack will be great. He has 4 cloth and between those sales the round ends. Here's hoping for a 10 point bonus token!1page-title000
turtler7By 1!?!?!? Wow that was closer than I expected. I thought I had it. At least he doesn't have to be disappointed by the misclick on earlier diamond giving me the round win.
Also... GOLD!1page-title000
turtler7Yummy diamonds.1page-title000
turtler7I have so many high ends that even If I had the chance to trade for more stuff I would be in trouble. There is no first sales bonus on silver so gold it is.1page-title000
turtler7Low trade ability still from all these high ends, but just enough to snag those 2.1page-title000
turtler7Time to get those diamond first sales bonus in.1page-title000
turtler7It is only 2 camels so minimal risk and I need the ability to trade for larger goods stacks or multiple high ends at once. Humpbacks ahoy!1page-title000
turtler7... minimal risk he said. Take the camels he said...1page-title000
turtler7He is going to start selling stuff. Going to get rid of my 2 silver so if any start flipping I don't get stuck between grabbing diamonds or letting him sell 4 out from under me and ruin one of them.1page-title000
