Happened here to me on this Arena turn-based table, I also rolled 111 then converted a Cultist into energy and bought it and nada....

I've seen multiple cases where it worked properly otherwise so I'm not sure why it didn't work when I tried...is it related to the Cultist energy conversion?

Now, this is sligthly different, as I took the Wicked Tile Fluxling and copied Time Freeze(m,so could be the same case for power card Mimic). Ofcourse Fluxling activates in an earlier phase during resolving, while Mimic only does after in the Buying phase.

This might be a technicality in the rules where freeze time only activates at the time you resolve 111. Since you would have already resolved 111 before you bought the card, you might just have to wait until your next turn before you can use it. I've never seen it happen where someone has been able to use freeze time on the turn they bought it, in either the original or dark editions of the game.

If it's a technicality, then it doesn't come from a strict reading of the card itself. For some reason, I can't copy the text from the card in the game, so I can't paste it here, but it begins with "On a turn where you score 1 1 1...", and has no further stipulation. So, the reasonable thing to do would be to check at end of turn whether the 1-1-1 condition holds, and trigger the extra turn accordingly.

I agree, within a vacuum, the text on the card seems like it would allow Freeze Time to activate on the turn you buy it, but I don't think there are any other cards that behave that way (at least not any cards that are triggered by dice rolls). For example, Gourmet lets you gain an extra 2 points "when you roll 111", but that one doesn't activate on the same turn you buy it. The same is true for Detritivore, Complete Destruction, Acid Attack, and others requiring certain dice results. The general rule seems to be that you need to already have a card in play a the time you're resolving your dice in order for the dice to be able to activate that card. This is what's leading me to think that Freeze Time shouldn't be active on the same turn it's purchased either (since you've already moved on from resolving dice to card-buying), and that this isn't necessarily a bug. It just uses some unique (and unclear) wording, but this is due to the unique nature of the card. Rather than saying "When you roll" 111, 123, or whatever else, it says "On a turn where you score 111", because it's not telling you to do something immediately when you resolve the dice, but rather to complete your entire turn before you gain the benefit of the card, but you would still need to have Freeze Time at the time you resolve the dice in order for it to be triggered. That's my take on it, anyway.

Correction: Acid Attack doesn't actually require you to roll anything specific (it just adds a smash to your roll) so that wasn't the best example for this discussion. Nonetheless, that card still modifies your roll by adding to it, and like the other cards, it doesn't activate on the turn you buy it because the dice-resolving phase is already over.

Hello thoun, I'm sure you have a lot of open bug requests to consider, so thank you for responding to a couple of the ones for King of Tokyo, but this Freeze Time issue is a matter of interpretation at best (please see explanation in my post above). I'm not asking you to undo this change or anything, but could you please address the following cards which haven't worked the way they're supposed to since they were introduced to BGA?

- Sunken Temple (acts as a temparary evolution, not a permanent one).
- Electric Carrot (never lets opponents choose to give energy instead of losing an extra heart).
- Unstable DNA (lets player using card exchange for any card, not just one that's owned by the player they were smashed by).

I know this is the wrong thread for these, but there have been reports about these for a while and nothing has been done about them yet. Thank you!
